Specialisation
  • Working according to principles of Functional Medicine (read more about functional medicine approach here) and according to five nature-oriented principles (for more info check BATC professional association, I am a member of)
  • General and Family Nutrition
  • Gut Health, Human Gut Microbiome, Probiotics, Prebiotics, Dietary Supplementation
  • General Health Complaints (such as digestive problems, acne, allergies, eczema, irritable bowel syndrome, thyroid problems, tiredness, headaches, low immunity, stress-related complaints, poor sleep, PMS, depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, insulin resistance, weight issues, joint pains, and other chronic complaints)
  • Interpretation of fecal microbiome results from MyMicroZoo
  • Laboratory testing, such as fecal test analysis (digestion profile, basic gut microbiota, intestinal permeability marker, reactivity to gluten, histamine tolerance, parasitology, Helicobacter pylori, Candida/yeast overgrowth, intestinal inflammation & infection markers, tumor markers, pancreatic elastase and bile production), blood testing (routine blood testing, SKB blood test, food sensitivities, allergies), saliva testing (cortisol, DHEA, sex hormones), hair analysis (heavy metals, minerals), genetic testing, DNA methylation profile. Client covers the costs of laboratory tests.
  • You are at the right place if you are ready to do some work and to implement lifestyle interventions if needed. My approach will not resonate with you if you are looking for a quick, one-time solution.

Most laboratory testing is requested via MGLab&Advies (fecal analysis), Atalmedial (blood analysis), RP Sanitas Humanus (saliva, blood, fecal, urine analysis), ProHealth (saliva, blood, fecal, urine analysis), and 23andMe or New Life Genetics for genetic analysis.

How do I work?

It’s very important for me that my patients feel at ease and that we have a quality time for thorough conversation, during our first appointment. I am eager to hear patient’s input, ideas and I want their motivated participation. Please note that the best results can be expected when the patient does actively participate in changing his behavior, diet, and lifestyle. When dealing with chronic disease, I focus on patient’s foundation – meaning diet, lifestyle and environment. We also look into possible nutrient imbalances, suboptimal gut health, the functioning of HPA axis (hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis). Depending on the individual case, we may look further into cellular dysfunction, toxic burden, hormonal imbalance, or chronic infection/immune dysregulation. My approach will not resonate with you if you are looking for a quick, one-time solution.

Consulting, workshops, education

To meet the expectations and needs of my clients, I offer individual consulting, group workshops, in-company workshops, scientific & medical information services, and gut microbiome expert consulting.

5 holistic health principles

Achieving and maintaining health will usually be quite easy if you focus on strengthening the cornerstones of good health: physical health, emotional health, mental health, and spiritual health. If you want to have good – or, better yet, ideal – health, it is essential that these four areas be strong. Each area influences one another, and for optimal health it’s essential to nurture them all.

The BATC professional association, I am a member of, endorses 5 holistic health principles as vital for wellbeing. Below, I briefly describe these 5 principles.

Nutrition. Quality nutrition is essential to provide the body with nutrients needed to function optimally. If the body is deprived of nutrients, it can lead to feeling unwell. Food nutrients act like a fuel to our bodies, like accelerators of various biochemical reactions, and like regulators of gene expression. They help us thrive.

Mind. The way we think can influence how we feel and how we behave. We have sometimes distractive thoughts that can influence our health outcomes. By becoming aware of it, we can change it into more empowering self-language to promote better health.

Detoxification. For optimal functioning, our body has sophisticated detoxification systems to help us eliminate what it does not need and what is harmful. For example, we eliminate toxins and not needed molecules by sweating, urination, or defecation. How efficiently our detoxification systems work is largely determined by our genetics, our lifestyle, and our diet. Healthier lifestyle facilitates better detoxification.

Energy. Everything around and within us consists of energy. We can consider that human beings have an “energy system” within their body. This system, from the atomic to the molecular level, is constantly in motion-creating resonance. This resonance is important to understanding how subtle energy directs and maintains health and wellness in the human being. Energy is what connects us and it’s a “communication” channel within us and outside us.

Signaling. Our body can be seen as a complex network with various signaling and communication pathways. There is constant communication taking place. For example, the brain communicates with the rest of the body through the transfer of impulses (stimuli), meaning nerves transmit and process signals within the central nervous system. If transmission and processing work well, the signals are clearly communicated and distributed to all parts of the body. The more optimal signaling, the better health foundation.
